About ASUBEB

The Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board (ASUBEB) was established in 1994 to improve the state's primary education system. The board's mission and goals include:

Restoring public confidence

The board's goals include restoring public confidence in primary schools.

Revamping the education system

The board's goals include overhauling, resuscitating, and sustaining the primary education system.

Providing quality education

The board aims to provide high quality education through a condu...cive teaching and learning environment.

Using modern methods

The board aims to use modern methods of education, such as interactive white boards, computers, tablets, videos, and cameras.

Specializing in areas

The board specializes in areas such as entrepreneurship skills, digital skills, tailoring, fashion designing, and catering services. The Universal Basic Education (UBE) in Nigeria aims to ensure that children acquire the necessary literacy, numeracy, manipulative, communicative, and life skills. The UBE also aims to ensure that children acquire the ethical, moral, and civic values needed for lifelong learning.

CORE FUNCTIONS

The major function of the Board in Anambra state subject to the general directive of the Honourable Commissioner for education are;
Overseeing primary education
The board was established in 1994 to address the poor state of primary schools in Anambra State.
Improving the education system
The board's goals include restoring public confidence in primary schools, and revamping the education system.
Ensuring quality education
The board's Quality Assurance Department is responsible for ensuring high quality basic education.
Promoting teachers and staff
The board promotes teachers and non-teaching staff when due.

Providing instructional materials
The board has procured and distributed instructional materials, ICT equipment, white boards, teachers' tables and chairs, and plastic tables and chairs.
Constructing and reconstructing schools
The board has paid counterpart funds for the construction and reconstruction of primary and junior secondary schools.
Distributing laptops
The board has procured and distributed laptops to headteachers and principals.
